The San Guglielmo tower overlooks the Val d’Orcia. It is a severe vanguard that encapsulates the spirit of a high ranking military man, Guglielmo Nono d’Aquitania, know as Guglielmaccio. He was born in 1099 and became a monk in 1137. After a pilgrimage to the Honly Land and many difficulties during his travels, he returned to this area to build the tower, an ideal refuge for penance for his sins.

His troubled spirit had him move once more. He transferred his household to the solitude of Malavalle, near Castiglione della Pescaia, where he died in 1157. Legend or reality true, lost in the passing of time.

Novadays the Torre di San Guglielmo, has been completely restored and trasformed into a comfortable residence, and ideal location for holiday in the peace and beauty of the Val d’Orcia.

The beauty of the area is beyond imagination, composed of olive groves and fields that change color with the seasons. The view towards Monte Amiata is a unique spectacle framed by the small windows in those ancient rooms...

Walking towards the Tower you cannot fail to notice the beauty of the nearby olive groves and the path set deep into the woods.

Out of sight until the last minute, finally the Torre di San Guglielmo appears...
